we 28th September Year 4

Hi All,

Week 4 -  The children completed their own versions of the cloth of dreams.  These will be finished this week and you will be able to see them displayed in the classroom.

Next week we will be visiting the National Arboretum on Monday.  The children will need to be in school, in the classroom for 8.45am.  We are hoping to be departing at 9am.  Children need a packed lunch, school uniform, sensible shoes, a waterproof coat and a bag that they can carry.  They do not need spending money as we will not be going to the shop.  (120 ish children in one shop – shudder!!)

The children will then have follow-up work on their visit on Tuesday.  Then we will be beginning a biographies topic in English about people who have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

In maths, the children will be working on column addition and subtraction.  A few parents expressed concerns about the second part of the maths homework.  On Friday, we went through this sheet in class and discussed the methods that the children could use to help solve the answers.  Some seem to be a little ‘long winded’, but at this point I would really like the children to see what they are being asked to do, and understanding the questions.  So even chatting through the questions would really help the childrens’ understanding.

In the afternoons we will be continuing our work on ‘Peaceful places’ this week we will use our countries from the Global Peace Index and find out the geography of these countries.
