Week Ending 2nd December Year 3

December is finally here! We're starting to gear up towards Christmas now in Year 3, as we prepare for our final hot write on our Letters topic, as well as thinking about the message of Christmas to people with different beliefs in our RE.

In maths, we have been learning lots of different things as we prepare for our next big maths quiz, focussing on using our timestables, measuring skills and fractions knowledge to solve problems. This week we will be mobing on to looking at telling the time and fractions - both topics that we will be revisiting in the Spring term to look at more in-depth.

In English, we have been looking at how we can use our language carefully to write formal letters, as well as extending out understanding of reading in book club. We will be continuing this during the next week as we explore the use of paragraphs to organise our ideas and we will be looking at our book "Letters from Santa" in more depth. Towards the end of the week we will be drawing this topic to a close, thinking back to how we wrote our thank you letter to Mrs Clause at the beginning of the topic.

In science we are also starting to think about the final aims of our topic of forces and magnets. We have explored lots of different investigations to do with magnetic force and now it is the children's turn to think about and design activities for them to teach an audience about magnets at a science fair.

We have also been enjoyin our preparations for the carol service! The class are in full voice and all the teachers are so proud of their efforts so far - keep up the good work!

There are a few reminders this week - check the main class page for more details.

Let's have another fantastic week Year 3!
