Looking back:
Another brilliant week in Year 1- great effort to complete independent work and attitude to learning!
In English we will have continued to write sentences including capital letters, finger spaces, adjectives and full stops.
In Maths we have compared groups by matching and compared objects using the language more, fewer/less and same.
In Art we have continued to layer materials to create a textured collage and used colouring pencils to draw in the lines and watercolours to paint.
We have published our work ready for exhibition and we cannot wait for you to see it!
Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:
√ Continuing to use our chopping arms to read and write words using phoneme from Phase 3.
√ Writing facts about seasons and creating a pictogram to show daylight hours in each season.
√ Creating masterpieces for exhibition
√ Using the language of: more, less, and same.
√ Playing Phonics games on the IPADs.
√ Using colouring pencils and watercolours to create art work for our exhibition.
√ Practising our performance for exhibition.
√ Layering collage materials to create textures.
√ Moving our body to help when catching and throwing in PE.
√ Learning about our brain, happy breathing and Team H-A-P through My Happy Mind in PHSE.

Looking forward:
Next week we will be using the symbols of: greater than, less than and equal to and ordering objects and numbers in Maths.
We will be writing about the seasons and completing a pictogram based on the amount of daylight hours there is in each season.
In Computing, we will be using a paint program to complete some creations for Exhibition.
Reminders:
Book change on Thursday- please ensure books are in school so these can be changed overnight.
Please continue to read every night. If this could be recorded in reading diaries so I can track progress for our 14 day Reading Challenge.
Just to clarify- Reading challenges are counted up every Thursday during book change and then awarded on Friday (backdated if awarded before that). We celebrate this achievement as a class all together.
Free dress day- Thursday 16th October -bring in donations of wrapped sweets for CUP U LIKE for the Scout Bonfire.
Exhibition- Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October Exhibition 2pm-6pm.
Nativity- Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th December 9:30am.
