Y1 Friday 15th March 2019– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

This week, we have published our Jodrell Bank recounts. In Maths, we have been comparing numbers and started to look at counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In Science, we looked at the properties of materials and in Geography we have looked at atlases to find the continents of the world

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Publishing our Jodrell Bank work.
  • Spotting verbs within sentences.
  • Comparing numbers.
  • Looking at countries and continents in an atlas.

Family discussion questions:

  • What are the properties of metal? (EG- shiny)
  • Can you name any continents?
  • How many verbs can you say?

Looking forward:

We will be looking at the ‘Everywhere Bear’ book and write character descriptions to help the class in the book to find their missing bear. In Maths, we will continue counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In Science, we will be testing the strength of materials and deciding which materials would be best used to make a megastructure and why.

We will begin our weaving in DT.
