Y1 Friday 18th July 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

What a lovely last week we have had- we have finished our tiger weaving and coloured to embellish them. We have had a Reception group each morning and Year 1 have shown them all things Year 1-they were excellent at this!

We have reflected on our time in Year 1 and written a letter to Reception to tell them all about Year 1.

In Maths we have told the time to half an hour and recorded hands on clocks to show o’clock and half past.

We finished our last day in Year 1 with our marble jar treat. We rode the bikes and scooters, danced, played party games and enjoyed a cooling ice pop!

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

√ Welcoming Reception into Year 1.

√ Practising our Phonics on the I Pads.

√ Playing games related to number bonds to 10 and place value.

√ Team games in PE.

√ Reflecting on our time in Year 1.

√ Writing a letter to Reception about Year 1.

√ Whole school assembly to wish farewell to Year 6 and Mr Moore as caretaker.

Family discussion questions:

  • What makes an animal a mammal?
  • Can you draw the time that is one hour after half past 4?
  • Fill in the gaps- M_s, loo_ ed, doi_g

Well what a year we have had together! It has been an absolute pleasure to teach your children and watch them blossom. I have loved every minute and I wish them (and you) all the best for the future. Thank you for the support you have given me this year and how you’ve supported your children’s learning. It really does make a difference! We have hit a new record for completed reading challenges😊

Thank you so much for your kind words, cards and extremely generous gifts- I haven’t opened anything yet 😊

Have a lovely summer break!

Kind regards and take care,

Mrs Carew
