Y1 Friday 8th March 2019– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:

This week, we have written a recount of what happened in the book ‘Farmer Duck’. In Maths, we have been looking at different ways to represent two digit numbers.

In Science, we looked at objects and the materials in which they are made.

We had a super time on Thursday afternoon working together strategically to make our megastructures.

Year 1 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Megastructures afternoon.
  • Writing our recount of ‘Farmer Duck’.
  • Using practical equipment to secure our place value knowledge.
  • Learning what materials objects are made out of.
  • Identifying hot and cold climates.
  • Sharing our favourite books with each other on World Book Day.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can you think of an object that is made from metal and plastic?
  • What time adverbs can you remember?
  • Which is the largest amount? 3 tens and 4 ones or 4 tens and 3 ones. Why?

Looking forward:

We will be publishing our Farmer Duck recounts in our best handwriting. In Maths, we will be comparing amounts and beginning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In Science, we will be exploring objects and describing their properties.
