Y1 Looking Back & Forth 16.1.26
We have had another amazing week in year 1!
Looking back:
- We learnt all about number lines and were able to use them to help us find missing numbers.
- We wrote some fantastic sentences to describe the toys in our story 'Major Glad, Major Dizzy.'
- We learnt two new phonics sounds - 'ie' and 'ea'
Highlights
- Learning about how penguins are adapted to their polar habitat.
- Watching 'Frozen Planet' and listening to David Attenborough talk all about Antarctica and the animals that live there.
- Using primary and secondary colours to create a painting inspired by Jasper Johns.
- Learning about what Victorian toys were like.
Looking forward
- Next week we will learn about what animals eat and whether they are carnivores, herbivores or omnivores in science.
- We will compare old and new toys in history.
- We will learn how to mix colours to create different shades in art.
- We will learn to estimate on a number line in maths.
- We will learn how to use 'and' in our sentences to add more detail.
