Y1 Looking Back & Forth 30.1.26

We have had a lovely week in Year One.

Looking back:

  • We analysed our model text in English, ready to start planning our own stories next week!
  • We have learnt to apply our knowledge of number bonds within 10 to numbers within 20.
  • We have continued to learn split digraphs - o-e and u-e.

Highlights:

  • Painting a snowy landscape in art in the style of Peter Doig.
  • Learning about what polar explorers need to keep them warm in science.
  • Visiting the book fair and looking at all the great books!
  • Reading letters from our families about their favourite toys when they were little!

Looking forward:

  • We will look at subtraction within 20 in maths.
  • We will start to plan our own stories in writing.
  • We will add detail to our snowy paintings and carry out an experiment to test which gloves would be best for a polar explorer!

Questions to ask at home:

  • If 2 + 4 = 6, what is 12 + 4 =
  • Can you name any food or drink items that a polar explorer might take with them on their journey?
  • Can you wear sunglasses in a cold place?

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Kind regards,

Miss Wood.
