Y1 Looking Back & Forth

We have had a busy week in Year 1!

Looking back

  • We completed our place value to 20 maths unit and we all did amazingly well in our end of unit test! Miss Wood was so proud!
  • We wrote list poems in english and some of them were put onto our new wow work display!
  • We have started to learn split digraphs in phonics.

Looking forward

  • Next week we will start our addition and subtraction to 20 unit in maths.
  • We will start to analyse our model text in english, which will give us lots of ideas for when we start to write our on version in the following week.
  • We will continue to look at split digraphs in phonics.

Highlights

  • We learnt all about what polar animals eat and sorted them into groups of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.
  • We compared toys now to toys in the past, we read some letters from grandparents about what their toys were like too!
  • We learnt how to mix primary colours to make different shades of a secondary colour. We created some lovely green paintings using all of the different shades we had made.

Questions to ask at home

  • What does a polar bear eat? Are they carnivores, herbivores or omnivores?
  • Which two colours make green? How can I make a lighter green?
  • What features do our toys have that toys in the past didn't have?
  • Order these numbers from smallest to greatest: 19, 13, 6

Thank you Year 1 for another amazing week!

Miss Wood.
