Y1 Looking Back & Forth
We have had a busy week in Year 1!
Looking back
- We completed our place value to 20 maths unit and we all did amazingly well in our end of unit test! Miss Wood was so proud!
- We wrote list poems in english and some of them were put onto our new wow work display!
- We have started to learn split digraphs in phonics.
Looking forward
- Next week we will start our addition and subtraction to 20 unit in maths.
- We will start to analyse our model text in english, which will give us lots of ideas for when we start to write our on version in the following week.
- We will continue to look at split digraphs in phonics.
Highlights
- We learnt all about what polar animals eat and sorted them into groups of carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.
- We compared toys now to toys in the past, we read some letters from grandparents about what their toys were like too!
- We learnt how to mix primary colours to make different shades of a secondary colour. We created some lovely green paintings using all of the different shades we had made.
Questions to ask at home
- What does a polar bear eat? Are they carnivores, herbivores or omnivores?
- Which two colours make green? How can I make a lighter green?
- What features do our toys have that toys in the past didn't have?
- Order these numbers from smallest to greatest: 19, 13, 6
Thank you Year 1 for another amazing week!
Miss Wood.
