Y3 Looking Back and Forth 05/11/21

Friday 5th  November 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

It’s been lovely, welcoming the children back after their Half Term break this week and they have been really busy, as always. They thoroughly enjoyed their time sharing their work at the exhibition on Tuesday and found the time, showing their parents their hard work, very valuable. We also began our week by assessing our reading progress so far this year and I am delighted to say how well everyone did. What great progress in such a short space of time! Our daily reading and Accelerated Reader sessions have certainly paid off. We have also spent some time this week, looking at quotations from the Bible and considering how they could be interpreted in imagery. We followed that work up by exploring how Christians can take messages from art. We made a fantastic start in PE by beginning our gymnastics sessions for this term and just as good a start in English where we stepped inside a brand new book. We have also launched our ‘Recommended Reading Shelf’ this week and we’re all looking forward to sharing this week’s books with the first reader. We have continued with our addition and subtraction work in maths this week too as well as exploring early human life as part of our Africa topic.

Well done Class 3 for being won-der-ful!!!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Gymnastics session in PE
  • Our new book in English
  • Looking at the art in RE
  • Starting our singing in Music
  • Reading quiz
  • Our times table test
  • Playing with my friends
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • Where did the earliest human first migrate to?
  • What is the title of our new book and what’s it all about?
  • Challenge Question: What were the earliest humans called?

Looking forward:

This week, we will be continuing to write our extended piece of writing about the earliest humans in History, working on the laptops to compare Elizabethfontein and Goostrey and their surrounding areas, beginning to explore Bible stories and learning the lessons Christians take from them, continuing to sing in Music and learn how to improve our skills, working towards a return story in English and continuing with addition and subtraction in maths.

Thank you again for a wonderful week and I hope that you all have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Sant
