Y3 Looking Back and Forth 13/3/26
Friday 6th March 2026 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Firstly, we would like to thank the PTA for a marvellous Mother's Day Shop this year and those volunteers who helped the children choose and pay for their chosen items - we loved it in Class Three! This week, we have planned and worked hard on our final piece in English, about the journey of water, based on the book Rhythm of the Rain. We have also continued to really try to get to grips with measurement and conversions in maths, enjoyed our reading all about Monster Stew, completed our Geography work on London, more rounders in PE, more painting in art, in the style of Cezanne and Matisse and showed what we had learnt in Science. We loved sharing more books by Jon Klassen this week too, did a much better job in our spellings, sentence accuracy and times tables challenges work and finally, absolutely loved our mystery reader session, reading Extra Yarn by Jon Klassen.
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Rounders
- Monster Stew reading
- Our Mystery Reader
- Our Jon Klassen books
- The Mother's Day Shop
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What were some of the Jon Kalssen books about?
- How has the land use in London changed over time?
- What have you learnt in Science about Light, Dark and Shadows?
Looking forward:
This coming week, we will be continuing to write the remaining paragraphs of our Scene setting narrative in English, sharing more books together, moving onto Perimeter, mass and capacity in maths, looking at inventors from around the world in History, moving on to counties and regions in Geography, composing and performing in Music and more spreadsheet work on calculations in Computing. It will be our second to last session on rounders in PE, more spelling and sentence accuracy work and times tables challenges and finally, enjoying another visit from our Mystery Reader!
Looking forward to our week as always,
Mrs Sant
