Y3 Looking Back and Forth 28/1/22

Friday 28th January 2022 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

What a hard-working week it’s been for us all and the children have been as wonderful as ever – well done and thank you Class Three. We have concentrated on our 8 times table this week in maths, using the inverse to calculate division. We have done a great job working on ambitious vocabulary to create and perform our own Kenning Poems which were very successful! Our history timeline of Great British Inventors is fantastic and we have learned so much from each other’s presentations. Music has gone well today as we have performed our own group compositions to represent the process of inventing from the planning stage through to prototypes and then the finished product. Finally, we began to investigate the human and physical features of the UK and learned more about ‘Word’ in computing.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Music – playing our own piece
  • Dance with Premier Sports
  • Performing our own poems
  • Finding out what happened to ‘Triangle’ and ‘Square’
  • William’s Recommended reading shelf – brilliant choices
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • When dividing, which number always comes first?
  • What is special about a Kenning poem?
  • Challenge: What is an equation?

Looking forward:

What a week it’s been this week! Next week will see us begin our next art-based work in the style of Chris Mould – the illustrator of The Iron Man. We will be writing our own ‘approaching threat narrative’ which we are looking forward to, finding out about the features of Scotland in Geography, enjoying our first play in Guided Reading, performing more dance choreography in dance and beginning to battle through short multiplication and division so lots to get our teeth into.

Just a quick reminder that PE is on Tuesday, band with Mrs Hext will be Monday and finally, the Book Fair will begin on Thursday to looking forward to that!
