Y3 w.e 1.2.19 Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Friday 1st February 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Over the last week, we have continued work on our myths and legends.  Meanwhile in maths we have been working on counting on and back by bridging on a number line and in our Topic work we have begun our learning on The Romans!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • The creation of our own version of the Romulus and Remus myth, I liked the fact we could draw our own pictures as well as choose our own descriptive language.
  • PE – I liked putting all our learning together to make a routine.
  • In maths I enjoyed the number line work, I enjoyed the new method.
  • Learning the new 9 timestable method was good, I liked it because it was easy and clever.
  • I liked the maths challenges!
  • Using ICT to help with my timestables was really fun too!

Family discussion questions:

  • Which of the twins gave his name to the city of Rome, Romulus or Remus?
  • How did your hero/ heroine slay the beast?

Can you remember the method for the 9 times table using your fingers?

Looking forward:

  • WILD SCHOOL WEEK: Remember your wellington boots/ sturdy pair of shoes for your child to change into at school.  School uniform to be worn as normal please.
  • Next week, we shall be learning the column method for addition! English lessons will see us using our imaginations finishing our mythical stories as well as writing our own poems based on nature.
