Y3 w.e 5.4.19 Looking Back & Forth

Friday 5th April 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Year 3 have found fractions of amounts in maths this week as well as undertaken their weekly timestable learning.  In English we have completed and published our adventure stories based on a lake or river adventure.  Mosaics have been completed and are very effective in their bold and colourful designs.   The Easter story has been learnt about and Easter cards created for friends and family members.

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I enjoyed making my Easter card because the egg moved to show the chick.
  • I enjoyed PE because it was really fun, we played dodgeball it was very competitive but people played fairly.
  • I enjoyed the Friday assembly because we heard all the shared news and received awards too!
  • Doing the mosaics was fun, everyone created a different picture but they all looked really good.
  • I like writing stories because you can write the adventure and sometimes it makes you feel like you are there yourself.
  • Star of the Day is the best part of my week!
  • I enjoyed publishing my English adventure story because we get to write them on special paper.
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

  • How many disciples did Jesus have?
  • What is the reason that eggs and chicks are used as symbols at Easter?
  • If 5/6 of the 24 gnomes are wearing a hat, how many are not?
  • What multiplication and division calculations can you create with the numbers: 9, 54 and 6?

Looking forward:
After Easter we will be learning about data handling, specifically tally and pictogram representations.  In English will be following game instructions and creating our own revolting recipes using our imaginations … eurgh!
