Y3 w.e 5.7.19 Looking Back & Forth

Friday 5th July 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

In maths we have been working out equivalent fractions and written persuasive arguments in English … this week they were based on an alternative traditional tale of The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig. We have enjoyed Sports Day, the French Picnic and swimming too!

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I have enjoyed Sports Day because there were so many different activities, and I enjoyed them all, my favourite one was the football one.  It was also great to watch the Infants do their running races!
  • I enjoyed swimming this week because we had new people join us in our group!
  • I enjoyed the athletics this week, I did the 80m and the relay, we did a great job as a team.  I also did the tug of war … we came second!
  • I have enjoyed maths this week – I got onto The Challenge this week – and got all of them right too!  J

Family discussion questions:

  • Can you find the equivalent of ¼ if the numerator is 5?
  • True or false? ¾ is the same as 9/12. Explain.
  • What opening and ending could be used in a formal letter?

Looking forward:
Next week we will be completing our RE learning about The Covenant.  In English we will be reading and performing plays in small groups to the class whilst in maths we will be comparing fractions with different denominators…. watch out for frazzled brains!
