Y4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 25th September 2026

πŸ”™ Looking Back – This Week in Year 4

We have had an amazing start to the week, beginning with a wonderful Forest School experience with Mr Hadfield. The children relished the opportunity to spend the whole afternoon outside in the fresh air – glorious!

In Maths, we have continued to explore place value, working with numbers up to 10,000. The children also completed their arithmetic lesson with Mrs Riddell. On Friday, TT Rockstars was the order of the day! We are gathering some great statistics to use as a starting point for tracking progress throughout the year.

In English, we explored the features of a lost narrative. The children looked at how sentences can be rearranged to use the same words but create a different emphasis and effect.

Some of the class also joined Mrs Cooper at the Pavilion on Friday for a day of sport. Although the weather was not particularly kind to us, it sounded like everyone had a fantastic day!

πŸ† Children’s Highlights

The children particularly enjoyed:

  • πŸƒ Running races on the playground
  • 🌳 Forest School
  • πŸ‘ Playing with my friends
  • 🦷 Looking at animal teeth in Science
  • πŸ“– The Lost Thing – exploring the themes of isolation and belonging
  • πŸ”€ Looking at the meanings of our names

πŸ’¬ Ask at Home

Why not continue the learning at home by asking your child:

  • Can you name the different types of teeth?
  • What can you tell me about animal teeth?
  • What does isolation mean?
  • What does belonging mean?
  • What did you enjoy most about your Forest School experience?
