Y4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 2nd May
Well, what a glorious week of sunshine we have enjoyed.
The class have been their awesome selves once more. We have had lots 'wins' this week. The Yr 3/4 cricket team were victorious. We enjoyed our marble jar on the field with our snacks (there were some huge bags of popcorn!) We won the PE trophy for the best class this week as well.
I am sure you won't forget, we are not in school on Monday, as it is Bank Holiday.
Friday 2nd May – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children have learnt more about our new English book, The Lost Happy Endings, by Carol Anne Duffy. We learnt more about Jub, the main character, and her very important nightly task. We also got to meet the Witch. Needless to say, she is not a particularly nice character and we are up to the part in the story, where she has stolen the Happy Endings from Jub (boo). In maths, we continued to work on fractions. In particular partitioning fractions and using mixed numbers.
Questions to ask at home -
- What is a proper fraction?
- What is a mixed number?
- What is a denominator?
- What is a numerator?
- What is a simile?
- What is a metaphor?
- What is a possessive apostrophe?
Children’s highlights of the week
- The Lost Happy Endings work- in particular looking at the witch
- Golden time!
- Double Page Spreads about bees!
- Designing money containers
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be conducting research about a European country. Practising their skills of sewing in preparation for their money containers.
