Y4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 7th November

🔙 Looking Back – This Week in Year 4

The children have settled brilliantly after the half term break. Fantastic news — we won the P.E. “Class of the Week” trophy! We are incredibly proud of the class for their teamwork and effort.

In English, we have begun our new books, both centred around outsider narratives. The children picked up on this theme very quickly.
In maths, we have been working on adding and subtracting two 4-digit numbers. The children are progressing well, though we will keep focusing on two key areas:

  • remembering to include the exchange (the number under the line) when adding the next column

  • writing digits clearly and in the correct place

In times tables, we are focusing on ×5, ×3, ×6 and ×12. We explored strategies for the ×6 tables and learned a helpful ‘cheat’ for ×12.

Parents: We are placing a strong emphasis on clear, accurate number formation. Any support in reinforcing this at home would be greatly appreciated.
