Y5 11.10.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 11th October 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

It’s been another great week. The children have started to work on several pieces of art and written pieces for the exhibition. They have produced their own version of the Greek myth about ‘Icarus’, and some fantastic artwork to go with it.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are really enjoying doing dance in PE.
  • We are enjoying making Greek theatre masks.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • To tell you why the ancient Greek actors wore masks.
  • To tell you all about the myth, ‘Icarus’.
  • To show you how to work out equivalent fractions and ordering fractions.

Looking forward:

We are producing more exhibition work next week. We will be finishing our masks and our Icarus artwork and will start exploring ancient Greek temples. We will also be looking at the myth, ‘The Trojan Horse’ and undertaking some writing based on this.

The Year 5 exhibition performance is in Thursday 24th October, 5.30pm. Permission letters will be coming out on Monday.

Wider Opportunities:

Have a practise playing your instrument. Practise getting it out in under two minutes. Have fun getting to know your instrument.
