Y5 29th March Looking Back and Forth

Friday 29th March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

The children say they found the talk from the local PSCO about internet safety very useful. Over the year we do a number of sessions on e-safety in class, but it was very valuable to hear about it from someone who has dealt with many of these issues. In class, the children worked well with ratio and proportion in our maths lessons. In the afternoons they have been finding out information about the world’s major rivers.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We found the PSCO talk very useful.
  • We enjoyed learning strategies to do with ratio.
  • We are enjoying gymnastics in PE.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What they learned about internet safety.
  • To tell you how we would separate sand and water.
  • To tell you all about the major river they researched.

Looking forward:

Unbelievably, we reach the last week of term! Children will be producing a final piece of persuasive writing, putting together all the writing techniques we have been focusing on recently. In science on Thursday, we will be observing the results of our ‘rusting’ investigation, looking at which nail rusted the most. I hope you all have a lovely Easter break.

Please could the children ensure they have PE kits in school. PE this half-term is on Tuesday afternoons, but it is always useful to have PE kits available in school at all times.

English: Given Monday/Return following Monday.
