Y5 4.10.19 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 4th October 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5

Looking back:

This week has gone by like a whirlwind. On Monday, we were really lucky to be joined by potential Olympic canoeist, Kurt Adams. His talk to the children was a real inspiration. The children have also done some metal sculpture work, producing some art for the exhibition.

Today, the children spoke to parents about the Burwardsley residential and we showed some pictures of our time there. I thought the children spoke so well and it was great to hear them say what a great time they had.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved meeting Kurt Adams and we learnt so much from him.
  • We have really enjoyed our writing based on the myth, ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’.

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • To tell you what they learned from Kurt Adams about his attitude to his sport.
  • To tell you all about the metal sculpture work.

Looking forward:

We have lots of exhibition work planned over the next couple of weeks. The children will be studying the Greek myth about Icarus in our English lessons; this will hopefully inspire some artwork too. We’ll also be producing some ancient Greek theatre masks.

Wider Opportunities:

Have a practise playing your instrument. Practise getting it out in under two minutes. Have fun getting to know your instrument.
