Y5 Weekly Update 10.10.25
Friday 10th October 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a productive week in Year 5 – we’ve got so much done! The children have… written some train poetry, written an imagined letter home from a member of the Windrush Generation, produced some steam train fact-files and artwork, written the diary of an ancient Greek child, explored Hindu gods… and even had time for some maths too!
On Wednesday, the children had a really interesting session with Alex Bamford, from the Education Library Service, who discussed inspiring books with the children as part of the lead up to the exhibition.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting writing a letter home imagining we were someone from the Windrush Generation.
- We enjoyed imagining ourselves as an Ancient Greek child and writing a diary.
- We liked listening to Alex Bamford discuss books and literature.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you how some key facts about how Ancient Greek children lived?
- Ask the children what they have learned so far about the Windrush Generation.
Looking forward:
Next week, it’ll be another busy week of continuing to work on lots of interesting exhibition work.
In maths, we will be concluding a little topic on addition and subtraction strategies, and moving on to multiplication and division.
We will be concluding an investigation about levers in Science.
I hope you have a great weekend!
