Y5 Weekly Update 13.2.26

Friday 13th February 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

Unbelievably, we find ourselves at the end of another half-term and half way through the year! It’s been a great week – the children have produced a lovely poem based on the WWII artwork of Henry Moore and they’ve been doing brilliantly with percentages in maths. On Thursday, with many of the children out at the Young Voices concert, myself and Mrs Riddell did some nice work with the remaining children about railways.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We’ve really enjoying doing dance in PE.
  • It was interesting learning about Arabic in RE.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what the conclusions to our rusting investigation in science were.
  • Ask the children to tell you some key facts they’ve learned about WWII.

Looking forward:

After the break, we will be doing a lovely piece of writing about VE Day to conclude our WWII topic. We'll then be starting a new writing topic based on a thought provoking book. In maths, we will be starting a little unit on area and perimeter. We begin our Burwardsley topic in geography lessons in preparation for our residential visit after Easter!

Have a great half-term break!
