Y5 Weekly Update 13.3.26
Friday 13th March 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a hardworking week in Year 5. On Monday, we did a lovely piece of ‘No Outsiders’ PSHE work based on Eric Carle’s book, The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse. The book covers important themes about the importance of freedom of expression. In maths, we completed a topic on area and perimeter and began a short unit of work on data handling.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed our extra lesson of PE.
- It was interesting learning how music is used in worship across a variety of religions.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children discuss the message behind Eric Carle’s book?
- Can the children tell you how to calculate the area and perimeter of a rectangle?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will complete their story based on Nicola Davies’ The Promise. In maths, we will be reading and interpreting graphs and tables. In science, we begin a new science topic based on life cycles. In geography, we have an interesting lesson researching the Sandstone Trail, and how sandstone has been quarried and used in Cheshire.
Have a great weekend!
