Y5 Weekly Update 1.5.26
Friday 1st May 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. In science, we learned about the process of pollination and fertilisation of plants. In Maths, we concluded our shape work by exploring angles in shapes and 3D shapes. In English, we planned our own survival narrative story. In geography, we have undertaken a lesson exploring features maps of South America.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have enjoyed the angles topic in maths and feel more confident using a protractor to measure and draw angles.
- It was interesting learning about the pollination of plants.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some of the golden rules we have been learning about using a protractor accurately?
- Ask the children what they have learned about art and music in religion.
Looking forward:
After the bank holiday, we will be starting a new RE topic learning about religious pilgrimages. We will be writing our survival narrative stories in English. In maths, we begin a new unit of work on decimals. Our science work will explore vegetative reproduction.
Have a lovely weekend!
