Y5 Weekly Update 15.5.26
Friday 15th May 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children began a short writing unit where they will be writing their own survival guides. In maths, the children have been working really hard with decimals. We’ve been undertaking some really interesting geography lessons recently all about South America. This week, we researched the Amazon rainforest and looked at which animals are endangered in South America and why.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed learning all about the life cycle of birds.
- We found it interesting learning about the South American rainforest.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what Amazon Rainforests facts they have learned.
- Ask the children what they have learned about survival in a rainforest.
Looking forward:
Unbelievably, we reach the end of another half-term next week. The year is flying by! The children will be writing and presenting their survival guides next week. In Geography, we will be learning all about endangered animals in South America. In science, we will be learning about the life cycle of mammals.
Don’t forget we have our class film after school on Tuesday. On Thursday, it’s Sports Day!
Have a lovely weekend!
