Y5 Weekly Update 18.9.26

Friday 18th September 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

What a great week it’s been! On Monday, the children had a really interesting session of Forest Schools, where they learned about wild life and nature and spent time in the school wood. On Thursday, we had an owl assembly and learned all about the work of Lower Moss Wood Wildlife Reserve. In class, we have learned about evacuation and the Blitz in our History lessons and the children set up an investigation into friction in science.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed the Forest School session and learning about nature.
  • We loved meeting the owls!

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they learned about evacuation during WWII.
  • Ask the children if they can describe what friction is.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will be continuing our History topic on WWII, learning about rationing and propaganda.

In Maths, we are looking at rounding. In Science, we will be conducting our investigation in friction. In RE, we continue our fantastic topic on Hinduism.

Don't forget it's individual photos on Thursday!

Have a lovely weekend!
