Y5 Weekly Update 19.6.26
Friday 19th June 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. In English, we have been studying the wonderful Anthony Browne book, ‘King Kong’. The children have enjoyed immersing themselves in this text. In maths, we have completed a short unit on negative numbers. We have started an interesting History topic all about the history of Goostrey – we’ve looked at a timeline of Goostrey history and compared maps of Goostrey over the decades.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed learning about a timeline of Goostrey history.
- We are really enjoying King Kong.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they remember any key dates in the history of Goostrey.
- Can the children tell you about the story of King Kong so far!
Looking forward:
We’re looking forward to welcoming the South African children at the end of next week.
We’ll continue our History topic looking at historical maps and census information about Goostrey. In maths, we've bugun another short unit of work on position and direction.
We will begin a new science topic – Growing up and Growing Old by looking at a timeline of key life milestones.
Have a lovely weekend!
