Y5 Weekly Update 19.9.25
Friday 19th September 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a hard-working week in Year 5. The children have studied sources of evidence in our Ancient Greece topic, and learned about the two main city states – Sparta and Athens. In RE, we learned about Dharma in the religion of Hinduism. We conducted an investigation in science, testing the force of friction from different surfaces on a shoe. In maths, we have continued practising with place value and rounding.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Weare enjoying playing oour instruments and looking forward to taking them home.
- We are enjoying Mrs Riddell's art lessons.
- We have enjoyed reading and watch The Railway Children in our guided reading sessions.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you a couple of differences between Athens and Sparta?
- Can the children tell you what Dharma is?
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing their own story based on our English text, FArTHER.
In maths, we will be moving on to addition and subtraction strategies.
In History, we will be researching the life of Ancient Greek children and in science we will be setting up an investigation on air resistance.
I hope you have a great weekend!
