Y5 Weekly Update 20.3.26

Friday 20th March 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children wrote some brilliant stories based on Nicola Davies’ The Promise - they have produced some great writing in this unit. We’ve  done of couple of week’s on data handling, reading graphs and tables, in maths. The children have found this quite tricky, but have put lots of effort into this work. In Geography, we learned about the Sandstone Trail and compass points. In science, we began a new topic, learning about life cycles.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • It was really interesting learning about the Sandstone Trail and how sandstone has been an important part of Cheshire life.
  • It was interesting learning about the word ‘salvation’ in religion in our RE lesson.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children discuss the first things they would do when reading a graph?
  • Can the children tell you some facts about the Sandstone Trail?

Looking forward:

It’s hard to believe it’s the end of another term next week! We’ve got a really interesting lesson learning about Beeston Castle and the geography of the area, which led to it becoming an important settlement. In maths, we move on to a short unit learning about angles and shape. We’ll end the week with a PSHE lesson about developing an ‘attitude of gratitude’.

Have a great weekend!
