Y5 Weekly Update 20.6.25
Friday 20th June 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children have worked really hard this week. We had a lovely class trip to the Wider Opps concert at the Bridgewater Hall and it was a great experience listening to, and playing alongside, the Hallé orchestra. The children were a real credit to the school and impeccably behaved. In English, we began our writing topic based on Anthony Browne’s wonderful book, ‘King Kong’. In maths, the children have continued to work on angles, problem solving with missing angles. In science. the children created a 'life' timeline.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed the Hallé concert.
- It was interesting to look at the census information about Goostrey and explore sources of evidence about the village.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some key facts about the school’s history?
- Can the children remember anything about the census data for Goostrey?
Looking forward:
Next week, we continue our exciting King King writing topic – the outcome will be the children writing their own story with a dilemma.
We will conclude our shape topic in maths by exploring different 2D and 3D shapes and their features.
In our local history topic, we will be learning about the history of Goostrey buildings and in RE we will be exploring Hindu pilgrimage.
I hope you have a great weekend!
