Y5 Weekly Update 2.10.26
Friday 2nd October 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a fantastic week in Year 5, we’ve got lots of WWII topic work completed in readiness for producing some exhibition work next week. In maths, we have moved on to practicing addition and subtraction strategies. In English, the children wrote a wonderful story based on the text, ‘FArTHER’. In science, we set up at investigation into air resistance, which we will conduct next week!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have really enjoyed learning about propaganda and rationing during our WWII work.
- We love the batik art with Mrs Riddell.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you why rationing happened during WWII?
- Can the children explain what propaganda means?
Looking forward:
We have a busy couple of weeks of exhibition work planned. Local artist, Mrs Goldsmith, will be doing some artwork with the children on Thursday. In English, we will be writing an evacuation diary. In science, we will complete our air resistance investigation and in RE we will explore Hindu Gods.
I hope you have a great weekend!
