Y5 Weekly Update 21.11.25
Friday 21st November 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a hard-working week in Year 5. We completed some really interesting work on river estuaries, examining how mud deposition brings a wide variety of wildlife to the area. In Science, the children researched and presented some work on the planets. In English, we continue to base our writing on the wonderful book, Where Once We Stood, and we are building up our writing skills so that we can write our own entertaining story based on space travel. In RE, we looked at the meaning behind the Christian prayer, The Lord’s Prayer.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have enjoyed learning French with Mrs Riddell.
- We enjoyed creating a river estuary information booklet.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you how to convert between a mixed number and an improper fraction?
- Can the children tell you key facts about the planets they researched?
Looking forward:
In maths next week, the children will be practising strategies for adding and subtracting fractions. In English, we will be planning and beginning to write our own story based on a Moon landing. In Geography, the children will be looking at the issue of flooding, and the impact this has on communities. In Science, we will be researching the work of Copernicus and Galileo.
Have a great weekend!
