Y5 Weekly Update 22.5.26

Friday 22nd May 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great last week of the half-term in Year 5. Sports Day was a lovely event and the children said they really enjoyed it. The class film also went down well - it was nice to see the children relaxing together on their bean bags. The children have written some lovely survival guides this week, and they have really enjoyed presenting them in neat. We ended the Geography topic on South America with our top-ten facts. In maths, the children have completed a unit of work all about decimals – they have done really well with this!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed Sports Day!
  • We loved writing the survival guides.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children how they would survive in the jungle – shelter, warmth, water and food?
  • Ask the children what they learned about the Amazon river.

Looking forward:

After half-term, we will end the year with some really interesting topics – Local History and some writing based on a very famous large gorilla! We also have some great things going on, like Bike-ability, Swimming, a trip to Bridgewater Hall and the visit of the children from ElizabethFontein.

Have a lovey half-term!
