Y5 Weekly Update 23.5.25
Friday 23rd May 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It was great to see the children throwing themselves into Sports Day with such enthusiasm, helping and supporting each other and showing some great skills. In English, we have been learning about information texts and we are building towards writing our own survival guides. In maths, we have now finished our topic on decimals – the children have done well with this. In geography, we have learned about endangered animals in South America and the reasons why they are at risk.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We loved Sports Day!
- It was interesting learning about animals at risk of extinction in South America.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember what vegetative reproduction means from our science lesson?
- Can the children show you how to divide and multiply decimals by 10,100 and 1000.
Looking forward:
After half-term, the children will be writing their own survival guide in our English lessons.
In maths, we will be moving on to a unit of work on shape, focusing on angles.
In geography, we are coming to the end of our South America topic, with the children researching the Atacama Desert and the Nazca Lines.
I’ve updated the class page with topics we will be studying in class in our last half-term. Don't forget swimming kits on the first Monday back!
I hope the children have a lovely half-term break!
