Y5 Weekly Update 2.5.25

Friday 2nd May 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great week in Year 5 and the great weather has definitely given a summery vibe! In English, we have continued to explore the book, The Lost Book of Adventure, which the children are really enjoying. In maths, we have moved on to a unit on decimals. In science, we have looked at different parts of a plant. On Wednesday, Mrs Riddell baked rationing cakes with the children!

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved making the cakes with Mrs Riddell!
  • We found it interesting in RE learning about the Puja tray and prayer beads.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you any survival and adventure skills/knowledge they have learned from our English topic?
  • Can the children remember what goes on a Puja tray?

Looking forward:

After the long weekend, the children will begin to plan their own survival story in English.

We will continue to explore decimals in maths, looking at strategies for adding and subtracting decimals.

In science we will be learning more about pollination and in geography we will be learning about South American biomes.

Have a great weekend!
