Y5 Weekly Update 25.4.25
Friday 25th April 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It was lovely to welcome the children back after the two-week break and they returned with their usual bubbly enthusiasm, which was great to see. This week, we have started new topics in science, geography and English. I have updated our class page to show a quick break down of what is being taught this half-term.
This is my first opportunity to mention Burwardsley. We had such a lovely time on our residential. The children were an absolute pleasure to take and they had an idyllic time in the sun – I hope they enjoyed it as much as they seemed to.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We liked producing a double page spread about our trip to Burwardsley.
- We enjoyed started work on our English unit based on the book, ‘The Lost Book of Adventure’.
- It was nice to be back with our friends.
Family discussion questions:
- How many of the countries of South America can the children remember?
- Can the children remember how we classify animals?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be delving a little deeper into The Book of Lost Adventure. This is a wonderful book for anyone with a love of the outdoors and exploring – it’s so well put together and beautifully illustrated.
In maths, we will be moving on to a unit of work based on shape. We will start by looking at angles. In science, we will be learning about the the different parts of a plant.
In RE, we will be starting a topic of work about pilgrimage, beginning with a look at Muslim pilgrimage.
Have a great weekend!
