Y5 Weekly Update 27.2.26

Friday 27th February 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great first week back after the half-term break. We have started a new geography topic about Burwardsley, in preparation for our residential in April. In English, we have been immersing ourselves in a thought provoking story, The Promise, all about how our environment can shape us. In maths, we have moved on the a small unit on area and perimeter.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed writing the VE Day diary
  • We have liked the beginning of The Promise.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they learned about VE Day and the end of WWII.
  • What did the children learn about separating materials.

Looking forward:

Next week, we will continue to work on area and perimeter in our maths lessons. In geography, we will be learning about the Ordnance Survey and looking at the Ordnance Survey of the Burwardsley area. In RE, we will look at how music is used in Christian worship. Don’t forget it is World Book Day on Thursday!

Have a great weekend!
