Y5 Weekly Update 27.3.26
Friday 27th March 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children were amazing while the OFSTED inspectors were in - I could not have been prouder or more impressed with them!
The children have learned all about Beeston Castle and the geography of the area and why Beeston became an important settlement. In maths, we moved on to a unit of work on shape, which starts with a number of lessons on angles.
The hamper draw was made on Thursday in front of the class. Well done to Ciaran and Scarlett - I hope you enjoy your yellow items.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was really interesting learning about Beeston Castle, and why the mount was chosen as a place to build a castle.
- We enjoyed the lesson on Islamic art.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you any facts about Beeston Castle?
- Can explain the process of pollination?
Looking forward:
It’s the end of another term – it’s flown by! Next half term we will begin a new English topic, based on a fantastic book about adventuring. In geography, we will move on to work on to a unit of work on South America.
The excitement is growing for our Burwardsley residential – we go on the Wednesday after Easter!
Have a lovely break!
