Y5 Weekly Update 27.6.25

Friday 27th June 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children have been enjoying ‘King Kong’ by Anthony Browne and we’re building up towards writing out own dilemma narrative stories. In maths, we have moved on to a short unit studying negative numbers. We are currently in the midst of a really interesting history topic, exploring the history of different aspects of Goostrey. In science, we explored a timeline of baby development.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • It was interesting to learn about the history of the school.
  • We have been enjoying learning about pilgrimages in different religions.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you some key facts about the school’s history?
  • Can the children remember the link between gestation lengths and the size of the mammal?

Looking forward:

Next week, the children will be writing their own story based on King Kong.

In maths we will be looking at negative numbers.

In history, we will be learning about what happened in Goostrey during WWII and in science we will be researching the differewnt stages of a baby's development.

I hope you have a great weekend!
