Y5 Weekly Update 3.10.25

Friday 3rd October 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children really enjoyed the Forest Schools morning on Monday – this was a great experience for the children and they really enjoyed it. In science, we have been exploring the force of air resistance using paper spinners. In RE we learned about Brahman and Hindu worship. Our maths work has been looking at strategies for addition and subtraction.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We loved forest schools, especially making the shelters.
  • We enjoyed the air resistance lesson in science.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you some key facts about Hindu worship?
  • Ask the children what they learned about Ancient Greek architecture

Looking forward:

Next week, we are really stepping up our exhibition work – we have two focuses, The Railway Children, and the Windrush Generation (as told in a book by Floella Benjamin). We’ll be producing lots of interesting work which I hope the children enjoy.

In science, we will be looking at how we use levers. In history, we will be writing a diary imagining the life of an Ancient Greek child.

I hope you have a great weekend!
