Y5 Weekly Update 4.7.25
Friday 4th July 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. We’ve undertaken some really interesting work about the history of buildings in Goostrey and what happened during the world wars in the village. In science, we researched the different development stages of a baby. In maths, the children have had a really successful week working with negative numbers. In RE we learned all about a pilgrimage a Hindu might undertake in their life.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting to learn about the history of the village buildings and how a number of houses on Main Road used to be shops.
- It was fun creating a timeline of a baby’s development.
- We really enjoy Mr Cowell’s Scratch lessons.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some of the coding they’ve been doing with Mr Cowell in our ICT sessions?
- Can the children tell you what it means if a building is Grade I or Grade II listed?
Looking forward:
Don’t forget it is July Evening on Friday 11th!
Next week, the children will be continuing to plan and write their own story based on King Kong.
In maths, our last unit of the year is learning about measures and converting between different measurements.
In science, we will be learning about changes that happen to the body during adolescence.
I hope you have a great weekend!
