Y5 Weekly Update 4.9.26

Friday 4th September 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It was lovely to welcome the children back to school and we’ve had a really productive first couple of days! On Thursday, the children wrote a personal statement about the year ahead for a time capsule – we’ll open this and see what they wrote on the last day of the year! We also started our WWII topic with a look at some key events in British history.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We are looking forward to learning about WWII and think it will be very interesting.
  • We liked writing our personal statements.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what they wrote in their personal statements – what are they looking forward to and what do they want to work on?

Looking forward:

Don’t forget it is the Start of Year Meeting on Monday, 4pm in the Year 5 classroom.

Next week, we’ll be starting our English work which is based on a lovely book called FArTHER. In maths, we’ll be looking at place value and number. There is always a list of topics we’ll be studying on our class page and this is updated each half term.

Have a lovely weekend!
