Y5 Weekly Update 5.12.25
Friday 5th December 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a really hardworking week in Year 5. The children have been learning how to write a formal report in our English lessons. In maths, we have moved on to explore strategies for multiplication. In science, we learned about the inspirational scientist, Maggie Aderin-Pocock. We completed some interesting work researching some well-known rivers from around the world.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We are enjoying the work learning about bridges with Mrs Riddell.
- We have enjoyed reading different ancient Greek myths in our guided reading sessions.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some facts about Maggie Aderin-Pocock?
- Can the children remember any ways that we can strengthen bridge structures?
Looking forward:
The children will be visiting the Christmas shop on Wednesday morning.
Next week, we will be writing a formal report about a space mission in English. In maths, we move on to look at strategies for division. In Science, the children will be learning about why we have night and day. In RE, we continue to look at some Christian parables and the messages within them.
Have a great weekend!
