Y5 Weekly Update 6.2.26
Friday 6th February 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a lovely week in Year 5. In Maths, we have carried on learning about decimals and the children continue to do brilliantly in our Tuesday arithmetic lesson. In History, we have learned about how propaganda was used during WWII. We also learned about the life of Alan Turing and the codebreakers at Bletchley Park. In English, we have starting a little unit of writing learning some report writing skills. In RE, we explored people’s belief in angels in different religions.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We are enjoying learning about WWII artist, Henry Moore, with Mrs Riddell.
- We found it interesting learning about Alan Turing and the work he, and the codebreakers, undertook.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children for a fact about Alan Turing.
- Can the remember what we learned about separating materials.
Looking forward:
Next week, we will learn how WWII ultimately came to an end. In maths, we move on to learning about percentages – this is a new concept for many of the children. We will also write a lovely piece of poetry about one of Henry Moore’s WWII paintings, depicting a lady waiting for an air raid to end in the London Underground.
Have a great weekend!
