Y5 Weekly Update 7.11.25
Friday 7th November 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a fantastic week back after the half-term break. We have begun an interesting writing topic based on the stunning book, Where Once We Stood. This writing unit also links to our new Science topic, where we will be exploring space! We also starting our first Geography topic of the year – Rivers. We looked at some well-known rivers in Britain and the reason why many towns and cities are built around a river.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting to learn about British rivers and label them on a map.
- We enjoyed playing netball in our PE session.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you the difference between a square number and a cube number?
- Ask the children what they learned about the history of space travel.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be making a collage of the journey of a river. In maths, we will be moving on to our first unit of work about fractions. In science, we will be researching the planets in our solar system.
On Tuesday, we will be visiting the church for a short Rememrance service. We will be also be producing a lovely, reflective poem about Remembrance and making a poppy to display with them.
I hope you have a great weekend!
