Y5 Weekly Update 9.10.26
Friday 9th October 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. Our exhibition work is now in full flow, the children have produced some brilliant self-portraits which will look lovely on display. We have also written some fantastic diaries, imagining evacuation day during WWII. We also did some art work inspired by L.S Lowry. In RE we learned about Hindu Gods. On Thursday, we were joined by local artist, Debbie Goldsmith, who helped us produce some fantastic winter artwork, based on The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We have been really enjoying playing lacrosse in PE.
- We loved working with Mrs Goldsmith on some Narnia inspired artwork.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you any facts about Lowry?
- Can the children explain what evacuation day was like for a child during WWII.
Looking forward:
Next week, we will continue working on our exhibition theme, with nice work based around the theme of 'journeys'. In maths, we continue to work on addition and subtraction strategies. In science, we will undertake a really interesting investigation about levers. In English, the children will be writing about VE Day.
I hope you have a great weekend!
