Y5 Weekly Update 13.6.25
Friday 13th June 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a good week in Year 5. The children have enjoyed their swimming sessions and it’s been so useful for those children who needed a little extra practise. We’ve been lucky to have Mr Cowell in class, teaching the children some coding skills with Microbits. Mr Cowell is doing a degree in game design so it’s great we can harness his skills in Year 5. The children have also written some lovely poems about endangered animals and been working hard on angles in maths.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting to learn about metamorphosis in science.
- We enjoyed learning about the history of Goostrey at the start of our local history topic.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you some key facts and dates about Goostrey’s history?
- Can the children tell you how to measure an angle accurately.
Looking forward:
Next week, we have our fantastic trip to the Bridgewater Hall. Children will need to be in school at 8.25am so that we can leave slightly earlier to get through the Manchester traffic. They will also need a drink and snack (to take with us) and a packed lunch (to have at school when we’re back).
We will be learning all about the history of our school in our local history topic.
In maths, we will continue to learn about shape, calculating missing angles.
I hope you have a great weekend!
