Y5 Weekly Update 6.3.26

Friday 6th March 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It’s been a great week in Year 5. In science, we conducted an experiment on solubility, testing different conditions for dissolving. In maths, the children have been working hard on area and perimeter. In English we have continued to immerse ourselves in the wonderful book, The Promise. The children have been exploring vocabulary and language features. In RE, we learned about how music is used in Christian worship.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • It was interesting to learn about Ordnance Survey maps in geography.
  • We really enjoyed the lesson about music in worship.

Family discussion questions:

  • Ask the children what the results of their science experiment showed.
  • What did the children learn about Ordnance Surveys?

Looking forward:

Next week, we will continue to strengthen our writing skills, ready to write a story based on the book, The Promise. In maths, we will be moving on to a short unit about statistics and data handling – the children will be reading and interpreting graphs and tables.  In geography, the children will learn about the Sandstone Trail.

Have a great weekend!
