Y5 Weekly Update 5.6.26

Friday 5th June 2026 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

It was lovely to see the children returning to school with such enthusiasm on Tuesday after a very sunny half term break. We did some lovely poetry this week, based on endangered animals in South America – we’ve now completed this geography topic. In maths, we have moved on to a short topic on negative numbers. The whole school had a very enjoyable theme afternoon based on David Attenborough. The children moved around a carousel of activities.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We really enjoyed writing debate poetry.
  • We enjoyed the science work about mammal life cycles.
  • We loved the theme afternoon!

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you facts they have learned about South America in their Geography topic.
  • Can the children tell you about Muslim pilgrimage and the Hajj.

Looking forward:

There’s lots going on next week. We’ve got Bikeability - updated information will be sent out today.

On Thursday, we are going to Bridgewater Hall for the Come and Play at the Hallẻ concert. We will be leaving at 8.30 on this day – I will send out a text reminder the day the before.

We begin our final History topic of the year – looking at the history of the local area.

Have a lovely weekend!
